ESG - NEED TO KNOW IN THE 4.0 ERA

30 - 06 - 2022

What is ESG?

ESG stands for Environmental, Social & (Corporate) Governance, roughly translated as Environment, Society & Corporate Governance - a set of standards to measure factors related to sustainable development and the impact of businesses to the community. As the importance of CSR has grown, ESG has evolved from specialized reporting terms for financial investors and into a generic term for how businesses consider the impacts of their products and services. Their products to society over the next 50 years.

How many businesses are implementing ESG in daily operations?

One of the typical examples of applying ESG in daily activities is Vinamilk. The enterprise that owns 56% of Vietnam's dairy market with a total revenue of more than VND 50 trillion (2022) has been applying a circular economy model with a focus on biogas systems at dairy farms, helping to transform waste into resources such as fertilizer, water, and gas. Practical actions are considered "green keys" to contribute to reducing waste and greenhouse gases, and operating environmentally friendly farms.

Viet Thai Group and Highland "flagship" brand are also pioneers in the sustainable "green" movement. In particular, the commitment to reduce household waste and plastic waste in the store system is shown in the actions of encouraging customers to bring their own cups or personal bottles for repeated use, free Upsize for customers. Participating in all product lines or replacing plastic cup straps with organic materials and doing waste sorting at the store has been warmly welcomed by consumers.

Gamuda Land HCMC is committed to reducing direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2025, aiming to reduce construction emissions by 45% by 2030. The Gamuda Green Plan is objectively approachable. clear goals, integrated in a comprehensive framework with carbon reduction targets. At the same time, Celadon Sports Club is also recognized as the only unit in Vietnam that has installed and operated 100% of solar energy at the facility, and at the same time, provides excess electricity to the grid. national consumption at the end of 2021.

ESG is no longer a strange phrase for people and businesses, but rather practical actions to make life "greener" for future generations. With the highest sense of responsibility towards oneself, the community and nature is always the guideline in all activities at Celadon Sports and Resort Club in particular and Gamuda Land HCMC in general.
